Specially timed to fit around Wednesday half day at school or some morning creativity before your head to the office. The course will run over 8 consecutive weeks. As our courses are often fully booked it is not always possible to make up a missed class although we will try our best. A maximum of one missed class can be made up. Making up a missed class is only possible where there is a free space in another class. This course is suitable for complete beginners, or for potters wishing to improve their throwing skills. As a complete beginner this 8 week course is a great introduction to making ceramics on the potters wheel.  During this course you will learn how to make simple forms, and alter them to become bowls or vases, trim them for a professional finish and glaze them to make then food safe. The course outline is a follows: Week 1 -  Preparation of your clay and mastering centering your clay Week 2 - Mastering cylinders Week 3 - Trimming your pieces for a professional finish, decorating and adding handles. Week 4 - Throwing Bowls Week 5 -  Trimming/Throwing  Week 6 -  Throwing Week 7 -  Trimming Week 8 -  Glazing  For those of you looking to improve your throwing skills, you will be challenged to make taller, wider and thinner vessels. We will also learn to make plates and closed forms. The class is 2.5hrs long which includes clean up time. The course includes tuition, clay, glaze and firing costs (a maximum of 8 pieces will be fired - any additional pieces will be at an extra cost) Good to know: You will get dirty so please bring an apron, an old towel, and wear clothes (and shoes) you dont mind getting dirty. Also throwing with long nails is very tricky, so best to keep your nails short.
