This 3 day mini intensive course is a great introduction to making ceramics on the potters wheel. During this course you will learn how to make simple forms, and alter them to become cups, bowls or vases, trim them for a professional finish and decorate them using colourful underglazes. Because this course is only 3 days, and to allow you to use the time to focus on working on the wheel, you will not glaze your pieces yourself. Instead your pieces will be glazed for you in a clear glaze which will make them food safe and waterproof and they should be ready to collect in 2-3 weeks. The rough course outline is a follows: Day 1 - Preparation of your clay, centering your clay and learning to pull up the walls Day 2 - Mastering cylinders and bowls Day 3 - Trimming your pieces for a professional finish, adding handles and decorating. This course is for complete beginners. The class is 3 hrs long which includes clean up time. The course includes tuition, clay, glaze and firing costs (a maximum of 6 pieces will be fired) The course will be taught in English. Good to know: You will get dirty so please wear clothes (and shoes) you dont mind getting dirty. Also throwing with long nails is very tricky, so best to keep your nails short. *Please note - due to the length of course it is NOT possible to make up any missed classes.*
Cancellation Policy
Unfortunately these one-off classes are only refundable up to 10 days before the date of the workshop. After this point the workshop cannot be refunded, but it can be transferred to a friend as long as notice is given before the class commences. An administration fee of €10 will be deducted from any amounts refunded.
