What is the difference? 

Handbuilding with clay is a slower paced more creative way of making pottery by hand, you can manipulate the clay any way you want to, to produce beautiful ceramic pieces both functional and decorative. Wheel Throwing is using a potters wheel to make round cups, bowls, plates, and vases.  This is a more fast paced method of making, difficult to master but you will have fun trying.
